In-House Counsel CLE: Bitcoin and Blockchain Primer for In-House Counsel

  • 16 May 2018
  • 4:30 PM
  • Boulder County Bar Association Conference Room (1942 Broadway Suite 205)

This session examines the law and ethics of virtual currencies from the in-house counsel perspective. After a brief introduction to the underlying technologies, participants will learn about conflicting regulatory approaches to cryptocurrency and evolving enforcement trends. We will also assess how cryptocurrencies and smart contracts may affect the work of in-house lawyers in terms of their own work product, in their efforts to manage external counsel, and in interactions with compliance professionals.  Throughout the hour, we will also assess how distributed ledger technologies may interact with ethical standards pertaining to confidentiality, payments, and safekeeping of client property, as well as reporting up and reporting out. Presented by Micah Schwalb.
