Please attend the Longmont CLE presentation on Observations of an International Election Observer or Foreign Elections I Have Known and Loved, presented by Richard Lyons, to be held at the Dickens Tavern on October 3.
This program will cover the adoption of international election standards, the role of the USA in observing European and Central Asian elections, the adoption of international election standards, pre-election and Election Day tricks of governments that want to stay in power, and a review of some interesting elections that Mr. Lyons has observed.
Prior to moving back to Colorado in 1979, Richard was a federal law clerk in Kansas City, MO. He has practiced law in Longmont and Boulder County for 40 years, and is currently Senior Counsel to the law firm of Lyons Gaddis. His state-wide practice emphasized the representation of local governments, including school districts.
Since 2002, Richard has served as an international election observer for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) as a representative of the United States. He has observed in 14 elections in mostly former members of the Soviet Union, in Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans.
Although we do not believe this program will qualify for CLE, we are so excited about the topic and feel the Longmont community will find it extremely interesting.
