Professionalism is close cousin of the Rules of Professional Conduct. The Principles of Professionalism adopted by the Boulder County Bar Association (and in use by other bar associations, as well) advise how lawyers can and should practice law to facilitate resolution of legal matters, work constructively to advance justice and treat the Courts, opposing parties, witnesses and third-parties with decorum, respect and civility. Professionalism is not inconsistent with passionate advocacy. It is not injurious to a client’s rights or interests, but focuses on making legal process function efficiently and with due regard for all concerned. This panel discussion presentation, from experienced practitioners in a wide range of legal practice areas, will emphasize the Principles of Professionalism, the intersection of professionalism and ethics, and will touch upon the many reasons that adherence to the Principles of Professionalism is an asset to the career of a practicing attorney.
Presently scheduled panelists include Gwyneth Whalen, Trip DeMuth, Lee Strickler, Peggy Goodbody, Tom Rodriguez, Meghan Pound, Karl Kumli, Timothy O’Neill, and Steve Clymer.
