“Declare an Emergency and Call on the God Squad” - How recent executive orders may affect federal environmental reviews and project permitting

Summary:  One of the very first Executive Orders under President Trump’s second administration describes a national energy emergency, calling for executive agencies to identify “emergency and other lawful authorities” that can allow for “swift and decisive actions” to increase the nation’s energy supplies.  What hurdles might be identified as those that delay or prevent agency approvals for existing and new energy projects, and what else is the President doing to remove obstacles that could prevent the country’s energy resources from being developed?  In this CLE, Anne will summarize certain Executive Orders that may more broadly affect agency environmental reviews and permitting.  The CLE includes an in-depth discussion about where we currently are with NEPA regulations and hopefully leads to discussion among participants about anticipated changes under other environmental laws such as the Clean Water and Endangered Species Acts.

This lunchtime program will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 pm via Zoom webinar. The Zoom link will be sent out to all registrants.
