This CLE will provide an overview of mental health resources available in the 20th Judicial District, both in and out of the court system, and how to use those resources to support and defend clients in the criminal system. The focus is how to work with clients, families, and treatment providers to establish a treatment plan and build an effective mitigation presentation. It will also briefly discuss related topics such as involuntary mental health holds, insanity defenses, and competency.
